Haiti Disaster Relief Donations
Many members have been asking us at the ACFamily Network and the NetLetter in regard to how they can help in regard to the disaster in Haiti this past week. The following is what Air Canada has suggested in a recent email and we think that this is the best path for us to take as well.
It's important to note that you will get more "bang for your buck" if you donate through a recognized charity like the ones listed below as the Canadian government will match most donations made to these organizations from individuals.
For more information regarding the Government matching donation, please see:

Air Canada has a long history of working with reputable relief agencies to provide first response support during times of disaster in Canada and around the world. These organizations have an international infrastructure and are in the best position to determine local needs and organize appropriate distribution of relief supplies. We trust these agencies to guide our efforts, and at this time they are calling for monetary donations and not for supplies such as clothing, household goods, etc.Agencies such as the Canadian Red Cross, World Vision, Unicef and Free the Children are accepting monetary donations from the Canadian public to support the relief efforts that are already underway.
If you would like to make a donation we suggest the following aid agencies, contact:
- World Vision at www.worldvision.ca
- The Canadian Red Cross at www.redcross.ca/donatenow , or by calling toll free: 1-800-418-1111
- Unicef at www.unicef.ca
- Free the Children at www.freethechildren.com
