DURRANT Capt. Maurice - July 13, 2010 - Captain Maurice Durrant passed away on July 13, 2010 after a short bout with cancer. CAPT. B. MAURICE DURRANT August 11, 1946 - July 13, 2010 Maurice Durrant passed with his loving wife, Ramona, by his side. Maurice will be sorely missed by Ramona, his children, Scot Fraser (Angela), Paul Durrant and Karen Spence (Brian), his three beautiful granddaughters, Lauren, Leah and Zoe. Maurice is also survived by his brother Neil Durrant (Rosemary), sisters Ruth Newton, Sharon Durrant and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Leland (Peachey) Durrant of Winnipeg. Maurice was born in Miniota, Manitoba, and moved to BC in 1990, eventually retiring on Vancouver Island. His love affair with aviation began in England where he received his glider's license at the tender age of 11. Maurice flew commercially, piloting everything from the PBY-5A Canso to the Boeing 747-400. He was a respected aviator and instructor, admired for his professionalism, kindness and sense of humour. In his 40 years of aviation he logged over 20,000 hours. Maurice was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He was a true gentleman and will be forever missed. A Celebration of Maurice's Life will be held in Winnipeg. |
